Job description

Salamander Designs is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Engineering Intern to join our engineering team. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in product design and development within a fast-paced, innovative manufacturing environment. The position has potential to grow into a full-time role for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the design and development of AV furniture and related mechanical components using 3D CAD software
Create, configure, and revise 2D drawings and 3D models to support manufacturing of standard and custom product
Assist with Engineering Change Requests, Vendor Quality Alerts, BOM updates and revisions, and custom order setup.
Conduct testing and evaluation of prototypes and provide documentation
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across product lines and throughout the department, with a focus on CAD database organization and File System Management
Collaborate on new product development from ideation through prototyping and product launch
Participate in custom product design reviews and provide engineering analysis and recommendations

Qualifications

Current enrollment in an accredited Engineering or related program (junior or senior standing preferred)
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent)
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
