About the role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Construction Intern in our Mokena, IL office starting May 2027. This on-the-job experience will support the firms transportation, water, and wastewater departments by participating in the field observation of a variety of projects and an opportunity to work directly with firm clients. Assignments may involve roadway reconstructions, structural (bridges and walls) improvements, water and stormwater infrastructure construction, and sanitary sewer projects. The Intern will be actively involved in the oversight of construction, earning valuable experience in the civil engineering field.

What your day-to-day will look like, what you will learn on the job:

  • Construction services associated with quantity computation, construction layout, survey, and construction inspection.
  • Assist engineers with field work, evaluation, studies, and design related to water, wastewater, transportation, storm sewer, potable water, sanitary sewer, and treatment plant rehabilitation and improvement projects.

Education Requirement:

  • Ongoing pursuit of a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in construction engineering

  • Available to start May 2027.
  • Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman service area (own transportation).
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.

Compensation: The hourly pay for this role is $23.00. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
