We are currently seeking a Civil Engineer to support our Oak Ridge, TN office.

The Civil Engineer is responsible for supporting the planning, design, and permitting of land development project. The role works under the direction of senior engineers and project managers while independently performing engineering design tasks, preparing construction documents, and coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities include but aren't limited to:

Engineering Design & Analysis

  • Assist in the design of site development projects, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, roadway access, and erosion and sediment control.

  • Perform engineering calculations and prepare supporting technical documentation.

  • Develop construction drawings and details in coordination with CAD designers.

  • Apply sound engineering judgment to design challenges and constructability considerations.

Project Support

  • Support multiple site development projects from concept through construction.

  • Assist with preparation of project scopes, schedules, and labor hour estimates.

  • Participate in design coordination meetings with project teams and clients.

  • Provide construction phase support, including responses to RFIs and review of submittals.

Permitting & Regulatory Coordination

  • Assist with preparation and submittal of permitting and approval applications.

  • Coordinate with local agencies, utilities, and regulatory authorities.

  • Address plan review comments and assist in resolving regulatory issues.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Coordinate with surveyors, planners, architects, and other engineering disciplines.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with project managers and senior engineers.

  • Support internal quality control and adhere to company design standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field

  • 5-15 years of professional experience in civil engineering with a focus on site development

  • Sole US citizenship required (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)

  • EngineerinTraining (EIT) certification required, PE licensure a plus

  • Working knowledge of site development design practices and permitting processes

  • Experience with stormwater management concepts and hydrologic/hydraulic analysis

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and standard engineering software tools

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability or experience to perform as a Civil Project Lead including managing other engineers and designers on smaller projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience preparing grading plans, utility layouts, and stormwater facilities

  • Experience supporting construction administration activities

  • Professional Engineer License or progress toward obtaining Professional Engineer (PE) licensure

Work Location:

This position is remote/hybrid work with a preferred for this position to be worked full-time in Oak Ridge, TN. For people within 50 miles of the Oak Ridge, TN office, a hybrid option requiring a person to be in office for minimum of 50% of the week. For people outside of 50 miles, a remote option with quarterly travel to the Oak Ridge, TN office is available. For hybrid and remote work, you are required to provide and work in a secured location as approved by the company within the United States due to the projects that you will be participating in.

Compensation Details:

$109,000 - $175,000

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
