Job description

The importance of water to the health of our world can't be overstated.

As the frequency and intensity of floods, droughts and storms increases, the water industry must continue to build resiliency and lead from the front.

Together with our clients, we are thinking and doing things differently to help pre-empt and prepare for what's next. Be a part of this dynamic and committed team of diverse water specialists and drive change for your community.

You'll be able to apply our powerful global network of skills and decades of experience to create positive water outcomes that respect nature and nurture communities.

Who are we looking for?

Join a team that's shaping the infrastructure communities rely on every day. We're looking for a driven Civil Engineer to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA supporting municipal water and wastewater projects across the Northeast and Midwest, with a strong emphasis on linear water, sanitary sewer, and force main systems. In this role, you'll work on critical conveyance infrastructure-water transmission and distribution mains, gravity sewers, force mains, and pump station connections-supporting public-sector clients throughout Western Pennsylvania and surrounding states. Your work will directly contribute to resilient, reliable systems that protect public health and support long-term community growth.

You'll be engaged throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and design through construction support, preparing technical drawings, specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates while contributing to hydraulic modeling and system evaluations. This role offers meaningful collaboration with municipalities, utility authorities, regulators, and stakeholders, as well as hands-on involvement during construction through RFIs, shop drawing reviews, and field support. As part of a collaborative team, you'll also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, strengthen technical excellence, and grow your career while making a tangible impact on the communities you serve.

Our Hybrid Work Model:

Be part of the dynamic culture! Our workplace thrives on a hybrid model, combining in-office collaboration and flexibility. Join us in the office three days a week to contribute, connect and excel in our vibrant environment.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Engineering Standards Specification: Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
  • Engineering Inspections: Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
  • Engineering Drawings: Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; or have the ability to obtain it

  • 4-8 years of water/wastewater infrastructure experience including linear water and sanitary sewer design for municipal clients

  • Trenchless or limited-access construction experience is a plus

  • Familiarity with utility coordination, easements, and right-of-way constraints
