Project Engineer
All work performed under this Contract will be ordered through the issuance of requirements issued by the FAA based on the recommendations of the individual District Project Coordinators, input from District Managers. Ultimately, the COR will set and assign work assignments and priorities to the contractor. This may also be communicated in a letter issued by the Contracting Officer (CO) or its Representative in limited cases. The District Project Coordinator will identify and provide recommendations and priorities to the FAA which may include but not be limited to project coordination and oversight activities related to new construction or installation, restoration, service life extension, demolition, removal, and refurbishment of FAA facilities.
Job Requirements
Education Requirements:
Must hold a bachelor's degree from a school of engineering within at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
or
include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics:
(a) statics, dynamics;
(b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships);
(c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics;
(d) thermodynamics;
(e) electrical fields and circuits;
(f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and
(g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
Experience Requirements:
Best: Minimum 5 years of FAA experience related to the construction, installation, restoration, service life extension, demolition, removal, or refurbishment of National Airspace System (NAS) facilities. For the Mechanical Engineering positions, experience with HVAC and Elevators is required.
Better: Minimum 5 years of experience related to the construction, installation, restoration, service life extension, demolition, removal, or refurbishment of aviation-related facilities. For the Mechanical Engineering positions, experience with HVAC and Elevators is required.
Acceptable: Minimum 5 years of experience related to the construction, installation, restoration, service life extension, demolition, removal, or refurbishment of non-aviation-related facilities. For the Mechanical Engineering positions, experience with HVAC and Elevators is required.
Unacceptable: Less than 5 years of experience related to the construction, installation, restoration, service life extension, demolition, removal, or refurbishment of non-aviation-related facilities. For the Mechanical Engineering positions, no HVAC and Elevator experience.
Experience & Education are significant because the unprecedented Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) portfolio of work requires understanding of/experience with the FAA's structure and immediate cross-programmatic planning and coordination of implementation activities.
