Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is seeking an Engineering Designer / Senior Engineering Designer to join our growing Site Development team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is an opportunity to build your technical expertise while supporting a diverse mix of manufacturing, renewable energy, commercial, industrial, and energy development projects.
Our Pittsburgh office serves as CEC's headquarters and is home to more than 440 professionals, including one of the firm's largest Civil/Site Engineering groups with more than 65 engineers and designers. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary teams while contributing to projects from conceptual planning through permitting, design, and construction, gaining exposure to a wide variety of project types and industries.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop site layout plans in accordance with local ordinance requirements
  • Create alignments, profiles, and site grading designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Prepare earthwork volume calculations
  • Prepare drawing sets from conceptual planning through final design and construction
  • Design sanitary sewer systems
  • Coordinate utility design efforts and support utility connection design
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams throughout project development
  • Assist, mentor, and provide guidance to junior staff as experience and role level allow

Qualifications
  • Associate's or technical degree in CAD, Construction, Engineering Technology, or related field; or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a similar discipline or 3-7 years of experience in Civil Design
  • Strong experience with AutoCAD required; proficiency with Civil 3D strongly preferred (required for Senior Engineering Designer level)
  • Experience with Civil 3D grading, erosion & sedimentation pollution control BMP layout and design, plan sheet set up, and bluebeam required
  • Ability to evaluate design alternatives and solve constructability, code, and site development challenges
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project team
