Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Geotechnical Engineer/Civil Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to work with a team of engineers, supporting various major geotechnical and geo-environmental projects including investigation, design and construction projects.


What You'll Be Doing:

  • Perform and / or coordinate a variety of geotechnical / civil engineering tasks to complete designs for variety of projects, including remediation and infrastructure projects such as cutoff walls, mines, landfills, bridge foundation, roadway design, retaining walls, excavations, and solidification.
  • Write design reports and memos.
  • Assist in developing design drawings and writing technical specifications.
  • Perform and / or coordinate engineering calculations, such as slope stability, settlement and finite element analysis.
  • Develop and / or coordinate field investigation programs.
  • Complete investigation and construction field assignments (as needed).
  • Coordinate laboratory testing programs and analyze and interpret laboratory test results.
  • Review boring logs and develop subsurface soil profiles.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with project team.
  • Manage tasks and obtain the necessary management skills to grow into a project manager / technical lead position.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for project work, including to remote mine sites in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Candidate must also implement behavior-based safety tools to achieve incident free operations (no personal injuries, property damage or environmental releases) for both client and Parsons.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineer or related field preferably with a specialization or strong focus in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Master's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering is preferred (not required).
  • 5+ years of related work experience in geotechnical, remediation, mining or infrastructure design and construction.
  • Familiarity with CAD is preferred (not required).
  • Familiarity with geotechnical software packages such as Plaxis, RocScience and GeoStudio is preferred (not required).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software and various computer software applications.
  • Requires a strong proficiency in both written and oral communication skills.
  • P. Eng is preferred (not required).
