Your Opportunity
Stantec's Irvine office is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Water group. The position is for those who enjoy analyzing the needs of clients and stakeholders to find viable solutions, collaborating across diverse teams, and helping to shape the future of infrastructure and design management in California.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team to undertake the design of water, wastewater, and/or stormwater conveyance infrastructure (e.g., pipelines, pump stations, lift stations) and water/wastewater treatment plants.
  • Lead and evaluate work of the design team in developing studies, drawings, and narratives for design memoranda, layout, plans and specifications, and related computations for civil engineering designs.
  • Review and approve civil engineering design analysis, drawings and specifications for completeness, accuracy, suitability, and compliance with sound and economical engineering principles.
  • Represent Stantec at regular client meetings, evaluate and respond to questions raised by technical engineering review comments, and ensure that design satisfies the intended project purpose.
  • Serve as Task Order Manager or Technical Project Manager for planning and coordinating civil infrastructure and facilities projects from basis of design memorandum through final design, and engineering during construction.
  • Interact with clients and develop and manage scope, budget, and schedule on projects. Lead project collaboration among internal team members and clients.
  • Prepare various engineering documents such as design memoranda, contract plans, O&M Manuals, and as-built drawings.
  • Assign and coordinate work to a multidisciplinary team to assure maximum efficiency.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • A well-developed understanding of design concepts relevant to water infrastructure design that incorporate civil/mechanical design elements associated with process piping systems, linear infrastructure, yard piping, pumping stations, and conveyance systems.
  • Strong client relationships and experience with local municipal agencies.
  • Knowledge of California policies, programs, regulations, and local technical issues and conditions.
  • Strong project management and/or design management skills
  • Ability to prepare complete, concise, and organized engineering studies and designs.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, lead projects and teams, and coach and mentor others.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and related BIM systems is preferred.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering. MS preferred.
  • Professional Engineer in California
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in the following:- Municipal planning, design, and construction processes and requirements.
  • Execution of complex water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with preparing plans and specifications for water/wastewater infrastructure.

Pay Range:
• Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas-$126,400.00 - $189,600.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
