This position reports to the Chief Structural/Civil Engineer for job assignments and for personnel reasons. Once assigned to a project, he/she reports to the Supervisory Civil Engineer in charge for technical guidance and direction. When no Supervisory Civil Engineer is assigned to a project, the Senior Civil Engineer acts in that capacity, reporting to the Chief Structural/Civil Engineer. The incumbent may supervise draftspersons, Civil Engineers and Associate Civil Engineers or he/she may prepare the working drawings and specifications without assistance depending on the size of the project and personnel availability.

Civil Engineers are responsible for the design of the site work for a project except for electrical and mechanical services. This responsibility would include site grading and seeding, storm water systems, paving walkways, underground structures, etc.

The civil design is guided by the Step I contractual scope of work, Company standards and good design practice.

Requirements
  • The background for this position is a four to five-year civil engineering degree and six to eight years experience in Civil/Structural Engineering. It is preferred for this incumbent to be a registered Professional Engineer.
