About the Role

As a Drainage Engineer, you will support one of our technical leads in the planning, analysis, and design of drainage and stormwater systems across a variety of land development project types. You will apply advanced hydrologic and hydraulic engineering principles to develop practical, technically sound solutions while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality engineering designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using industry-standard software including CUHP, SWMM, HY-8, FlowMaster, StormCAD, and related tools.
  • Design stormwater conveyance systems, detention facilities, culverts, open channels, and water quality and LID facilities.
  • Develop engineering calculations, evaluate design alternatives, and provide technical recommendations supported by sound engineering judgment.
  • Prepare drainage reports, stormwater management plans, and technical memoranda specifications.
  • Produce and review drainage plan sheets, profiles, details, and exhibits that clearly communicate design intent and satisfy project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable DOT, local agency, floodplain, stormwater, and water quality criteria throughout project development.
  • Coordinate drainage design with roadway, structural, utilities, environmental, and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated project solutions.
  • Support technical reviews and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures to ensure accurate, complete, and constructible designs.
  • Participate in field investigations, evaluate existing site conditions, and support construction by reviewing RFIs, submittals, and drainage-related design questions.
  • Communicate technical findings, project progress, and engineering recommendations with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Possession of a PE license or eligibility to take the PE exam within six months of hire.
  • Experience performing drainage design, hydraulic and hydrologic analyses, engineering calculations, and plan production for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience applying local agency and DOT drainage design standards for closed pipe systems, open channels, and water quality design.
  • Proficiency with CUHP, SWMM, HY-8, FlowMaster, StormCAD, and other engineering software used for drainage analysis and design.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills with the ability to prepare clear engineering documentation and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Mile High Flood District criteria and standards.
