Serves as an Intern in a School of Medicine Department. Duties and responsibilities may vary based on the department and specific focus of the work.
Emory Sports Performance And Research Center (SPARC) is seeking a Biomechanics Research Fellow to support our ongoing research and clinical initiatives. This role focuses on the intersection of human movement, technology, and data acquisition. The ideal candidate will assist in the execution of biomechanical testing protocols, manage specialized data collection hardware and software, and ensure the integrity of data captured from athletes, clinical patients, and research participants.
Responsibilities may include performing biomechanical assessment and data collections, ensuring participant eligibility and readiness, performing basic data quality control and analysis, and across multidisciplinary teams of researchers, clinicians, and performance staff.
Who Should Apply?
- Minimum requirement: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Sports Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Familiarity with 3D motion capture systems (e.g., Vicon, Qualisys, OpenCap) and force plate technology (e.g., AMTI, Bertec) is preferred.
- Basic exposure to data handling software or programming environments (such as MATLAB, Python, or R) is an asset.
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical staff and athletic populations.
