Civil Engineer - Federal/Public Works
Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer with at least 5 years' experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer for our Irvine office. This role will work within our Federal Practice Area. This position will provide leadership, guide business development and project management on local Southern California (and beyond as needed) engineering projects.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
Duties:
  • Serve as Civil Engineer in the development of design schematics, construction plans, specifications and estimates
  • Coordinate with EITs, designers and drafters
  • Review shop drawings, perform field observations, and facilitate the construction administration
  • Support project proposals, scopes, budgets, and manage execution and tracking of projects
  • Complete projects within client specifications, budgets and schedules
  • Coordinate online meetings, preparation of meeting agendas, and distribution of meeting

Key Responsibilities:
  • Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process.
  • Productively collaborates with PMs and encourages teams to achieve success and camaraderie amongst each other.
  • Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Assists PM on ensuring that quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
  • Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.
  • Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks supporting the needs of the PM on assigned project tasks.
  • Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects.
  • Complete assignments on-time, within budget, and with highest level of quality.
  • Routinely proposes and produces more effective ways to accomplish tasks.
  • Assists PM as needed on work planning. Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Assists PM on ensuring proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • 5+years of civil engineering design experience
  • Proficient in MicroStation, AutoCAD and Civil 3D a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment and to manage multiple projects with limited supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely

Physical Requirements:

Annual Base Salary Range: $137,000 - $148,000 depending on experience and qualifications of the selected candidate(s). The expected salary range for this position is displayed in accordance with the California Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The final agreed upon compensation is based on the success candidate's individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and consideration to participate in our discretionary annual bonus incentive program.
