Job description

As a Civil Engineering Project Manager in the Waste Management Practice for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), in our Boston, MA offices, youโ€™ll manage project teams to complete engineering tasks such as airspace and earthwork volume calculations, prepare and review technical reports, design stormwater management systems, leachate collection systems, and landfill gas collection systems, perform geotechnical analyses, as well as prepare landfill grading plans and project details and specifications.

Youโ€™ll be directly responsible for developing proposals, project budgets, and schedules, managing the engineering staff, and performing quality control. While interacting with clients, contractors, and local/state government officials, youโ€™ll impact the whole project - from conceptual and design phases, through the regulatory review process, bidding, and construction.

In addition, you will partner with our management teams to mentor and assist in the professional development of the staff, including the performance of annual reviews and the establishment of development goals. Concurrently, our senior management teams will work with you to customize your individual career path through a variety of professional development and mentoring activities related to your project management, leadership, and business development skills.

Applicants will have an option to sit in either our Raynham, MA or Peabody, MA office locations.

The pay range for this position is between $80,000 and $140,000. The hiring range posted is a good faith estimate of what Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. may reasonably offer for the role as outlined. Factors such as additional education and/or experience may influence the actual offering. 


  • 8+ years or experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent; Masters degree preferred
  • Professional Engineer licensure (P.E.) required
  • Proficient in technical software and Civil Engineering technology, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling software, and geotechnical modeling software
  • Established clients/contacts in the Solid Waste client sector
  • Ability to manage project portfolios in excess of $250,000 in annual professional fee revenues
  • Experience in scope of service and budget (proposal) development, and demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably
  • Participation in both client- and professional development-based organizations; 
  • Experience communicating with staff, clients, contractors, and government regulatory officials
  • Ability to coordinate the regulatory agency review process
