SPS New England, Inc., one of the leading heavy highway contractors in New England, is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform duties on Bridge and Highway construction projects.
Since 1984, SPS has been helping to rebuild New England's infrastructure. Wherever you drive throughout Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, there's a good chance you will travel down a road or over a bridge built by SPS New England.
Position Description
SPS is seeking Part-time and Full-time Civil Engineering and/or Construction Management students for our Coop/ Internship program.
Candidates should have a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, good communication skills and excellent computer skills. We are looking for Civil engineer and Construction students who are self motivated and anxious to start or advance their career in construction management.
Heavy construction experience is preferred but not essential. Those who enjoy a fast-paced environment and the outdoors will love this work.
As an SPS intern you may:
-sit in on meetings
-help with RFI's and submittals
-count trucks/supplies
-take measurements
-make runs to the shop or Home Depot
-track supplies/things in excel
-make phone calls to Subcontractors
-have down time where they will want you to look over plans
-help with do whatever your Assistant Project Manager or Assistant super needs help with out in the field.
Salary/Pay Range: $22-$24/hr Dependent upon experience
Position Requirements
Requirements: You should be very proficient in Excel, be able to somewhat understand a set of plans or a plan layout, and you need to be willing to ask questions and ask for work if your managers are busy or you are finished with your last task. Take initiative! Experience with concrete forming systems, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Procore, or Heavy Bid is preferred but not required.
Position requires travel to engineering job sites in New England (no overnight travel).
