Job description

Position Summary:
Acuren Inspection is currently recruiting for an Asset Civil Inspector in Monaca, PA. The primary role of the Asset Civil Inspector is to guard technical integrity and operational availability by planning and executing Civil inspections and as required for repair and construction of Civil assets.
Responsibilities:
  • Planning and execution of inspections; Inspections will include but will not be limited to the following: passive fireproofing, cooling water tower structure/basin, concrete pedestals, bridges, buildings, concrete area paving, concrete structures, flare structures, interceptors, jetties, personnel access facilities, pipe tracks, process/storm drainage systems, railroads, retention ponds, retention walls, roads, secondary containment, and steel structures.
  • Maintaining technical data in the Inspection Management System (IMS)
  • Generate and manage CAIRs (Corrective Action Inspection Requests) for Civil assets which do not meet their functional requirements
  • Oversee and coordinate 3rd party inspections including review of inspection reports
  • Ensure the company approved codes and standards are complied with, through supporting Quality assurance for Maintenance and Capital Projects

Requirements:
Individual inspecting the Civil assets or supervising the inspection of the Civil assets shall have sufficient experience to properly assess Civil asset conditions. A Qualified Inspector shall meet one or more of the following:
  • A registered Civil Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience In design and maintenance of industrial plants.
  • A non-registered Civil Engineer working under the direct supervision of an experienced and registered Civil Engineer.
  • A Civil Design Technician with a minimum of 10 years of experience in design and maintenance of industrial plants under the direct supervision of an experienced and registered Civil Engineer.
  • A Civil Inspector with a minimum of 10 years of experience in construction and maintenance of industrial plants under the direct supervision of an experienced and registered Civil Engineer

The Asset Civil Inspector should have the following general knowledge and skills:
  • Knowledge in most or all of the following codes, standards and guidelines: ACI, AISC, ASCE, ASTM, OSHA, NFPA, AREMA (American Railway Engineering & Maintenance-of-Way Association), ASME B30 (Safety Standards for Monorails & Cranes)
  • Firm understanding of Shell DEP's (Design Engineering Practice) Civil related specifications, standards, strategies, philosophies, Loss Prevention Principles, procedures and work processes.
  • Ability to self-define priorities and independently manage work (autonomously)
  • The ability to design and generate computer aided and/or hand sketches for repair of Civil assets.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Site's Lead Civil Engineer, Shell's Project group, and other 3rd party Contractors to assure effective implementation of MEC and Project related inspections.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with external and internal
  • Takes ownership in managing the Civil integrity program
  • Effectively "Leverage in" key learnings and Subject Matter Expert support when required.
