DLZ Corporation has a Civil Engineer - Water, Wastewater and Stormwater opportunity in Waterford, Michigan. Projects may include water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, combined sewer overflow facilities, sanitary sewer stations, booster pump stations, transmission and/or distribution mains.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform site civil, water, wastewater, and stormwater engineering assignments for municipal clients under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers.
  • Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and construction documents for municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Support the planning and development of Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater projects from initial concept through design and construction.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates, technical reports, and supporting calculations.
  • Assist with construction phase services including shop drawing review, submittals, field observations, and coordination with contractors.
  • Review project documents and assist in identifying key parameters, schedules, and project milestones.
  • Coordinate with internal team members and contribute to maintaining project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Attend client and project meetings; may participate in public or after-hours meetings as needed.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with team members and clients.
  • Support quality control efforts by following established design standards and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • 2-5 years of experience in municipal engineering, with exposure to water, wastewater, and/or stormwater projects preferred.
  • Experience with the evaluation, planning, and/or design of one or more of the following: Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants, pump stations, water distribution systems, sanitary sewer systems, or stormwater infrastructure.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license in the future preferred.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic modeling tools is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D or similar design software preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction sites in compliance with all safety requirements.
