Job Type: Full-time, Exempt.
Work Hours: The work week for full-time exempt employees is normally considered to be 40 hours; however, greater emphasis is placed on meeting the responsibilities assigned to the position than on working a specified number of hours. Exempt employees are not eligible to receive overtime compensation. Must be available evenings, holidays, and weekends as required.

Summary of Functions:
The Civic Affairs Specialist serves as a key liaison between OneLegacy, civic leaders, community partners, and public-sector stakeholders. Housed within the Public Education Department, this role advances the OneLegacy's mission by supporting public education efforts, fostering civic and governmental relationships, and promoting awareness of organ donation and transplantation through strategic outreach and engagement.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Civic Governance Engagement
1. Build and maintain relationships with local and state elected officials, civic leaders, and public-sector stakeholders.
2. Serve as a point of contact for civic engagement initiatives within the Public Education Department.
3. Coordinate meetings, briefings, site visits, and public events involving civic and government stakeholders.
4. Support leadership participation in meetings with elected officials and their staff.
Public Education and Awareness
1. Educate civic leaders and public officials on the OneLegacy's mission, operations, outcomes, and community impact.
2. Develop educational materials, briefing documents, fact sheets, and presentations tailored to civic and government audiences.
3. Coordinate facility tours, donor family engagements, and recognition opportunities involving public officials.
Community Partnerships
1. Coordinate, establish, and strengthen community partnerships aligned with Public Education goals.
2. Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned community and civic partners.
3. Support culturally responsive outreach efforts in diverse and historically underrepresented communities.
4. Collaborate with partners to implement educational campaigns, presentations, and community-based initiatives.
Strategic Coordination
1. Work closely with the Director of Community Partnerships and Communications to align civic engagement with broader communications and education strategies.
2. Collaborate with communications, outreach, and executive teams to ensure consistent messaging.
3. Support strategic initiatives targeting underperforming partners and priority stakeholder groups.
Compliance and Reporting
1. Ensure civic engagement and public education activities comply with organizational policies and applicable ethics guidelines.
2. Track and report on meetings, outreach efforts, and stakeholder engagement activities.
3. Maintain accurate records of partnerships and civic outreach outcomes.

Job Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in public administration, political science, public policy, communications, healthcare administration, or a related field.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in civic engagement, public education, community partnerships, or related work. Demonstrated experience working with civic leaders, community organizations, or public-sector stakeholders. Experience in healthcare, public health, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations preferred. Familiarity with local and state government processes are preferred. Experience working in regulated or public-facing environments preferred.
Certification/License: OneLegacy requires employees to maintain a current California driver's license and current vehicle insurance.
Equipment: Reliable automotive transportation required.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $82,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, OneLegacy considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
