About the role
D-Wave is seeking an experienced Staff Network Engineer to join our DevOps team. The DevOps team's mission is to provide top-notch platform and production services across the organization. In this role, you'll collaborate with the team to design, implement, and maintain core networking infrastructure, including our production network architecture, network security systems, and network connectivity to remote sites. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the reliability, performance, and security of these systems-managing firewalls, monitoring network activity, and promoting best practices such as infrastructure-as-code.
What you'll do
  • Architect, implement, and maintain complex AWS networking environments (VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups)
  • Lead the management of AWS Direct Connect links and Site-to-Site VPNs to remote sites
  • Oversee Cisco on-premise production networking, including hardware/software administration and advanced troubleshooting
  • Design and support Kubernetes networking, including ingress/egress, load balancing, and distribution of BGP services
  • Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot BGP and OSPF routing protocols
  • Collaborate closely with IT and product teams to automate network provisioning and management
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical leadership in networking
  • Ensure network security, compliance, and best practices across all environments
  • Proactively monitor network performance and resolve complex issues
  • Document network architecture, configurations, and operational procedures

What you'll bring
  • 8+ years of professional experience in network administration (cloud and on-premise)
  • Advanced expertise with AWS networking (VPC, Direct Connect, VPN)
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco networking equipment and protocols
  • Experience with automation and DevOps practices such as infrastructure as code
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes networking concepts
  • Proven ability to configure and troubleshoot BGP and OSPF
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, and Ansible)
  • Strong collaboration skills and flexibility to work across IT and DevOps teams
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities

Bonus skills
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Familiarity with Cilium CNI
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust networking principles
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Advanced Networking, Cisco CCNP/CCIE, CKA/CKAD, or Cilium Certified Associate (CCA)
