Reports To: Senior Maintenance Manager

Position Summary
We are seeking a Maintenance Manager, Refrigeration to oversee the safe operation, management, and maintenance of an Ammonia Refrigeration System and other mechanical counterparts. This role requires expertise in industrial/building maintenance, preventive maintenance planning, process safety management, and capital budgeting. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-volume food or beverage manufacturing and be proficient in refrigeration maintenance, troubleshooting, and team supervision.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), or Professional Engineer (PE) certification; or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in the food or beverage industry.
  • Extensive experience in engineering, preventive maintenance, and systems infrastructure upgrades.
  • Prior experience managing project, process, and packaging engineering functions in a team setting.
  • Capital budgeting and planning experience.
  • Process Safety Management (PSM) experience for Ammonia Refrigeration Systems (preferred).

Qualifications & Skills
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in ammonia refrigeration and maintenance.
  • CIRO Certification or ability to obtain RETA CIRO Certification within an acceptable timeframe.
  • Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and industrial refrigeration systems.
  • Proficiency in NEC (National Electrical Code) and ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with building maintenance, freezer doors, truck bay levelers, and restraints.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and work in temperature extremes ranging from -40°F to 110°F.
  • Willingness to work after hours, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work on elevated equipment and stand or stoop for prolonged periods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of the Ammonia Refrigeration System and other facility mechanical components.
  • Manage preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Supervise and provide direction to a small maintenance crew while ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Perform daily equipment checks, inspections, and documentation to maintain compliance with mechanical standards.
  • Support SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards by maintaining food safety and quality procedures in the work area.
  • Track and log materials, resources, and maintenance activities for reporting and budgeting.
  • Oversee industrial/building maintenance, repair projects, and facility upkeep.
  • Implement public safety and security procedures to protect personnel, equipment, and property.
  • Conduct data entry and management on the Maintenance Management System and PSM website.
