Job Summary

The Massage Therapist will perform therapeutic massage services to participants in the day center as prescribed by a PCP. Assessment and treatment will be geared toward improving circulation, promoting relaxation, and relieving stress, pain and injury associated with the geriatric population.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Evaluate clients' soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion
  • Develop and propose participant treatment plans that specify which types of massage are to be used
  • Consult with participants about their medical histories and any problems with stress and/or pain in order to determine whether massage would be helpful
  • Massage and knead the muscles and soft tissues of the human body in order to provide treatment for medical conditions, injuries or wellness maintenance
  • Prepare and blend oils, and apply the blends to participant’s skin
  • Maintain detailed and accurate treatment records utilizing the PACE RI EMR
  • Coordinate transportation and scheduling in conjunction with the Health Center Administrative Assistant.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

  • Ability to proficiently perform clinical/skilled tasks associated within scope of position

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma, Required


Physical Requirements

  • Physical ability to regularly stoop, bend, kneel, lift, stand, walk, stretch and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to regularly lift objects up to 25 pounds and at times up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to assist a 200-250 lb participant, using proper body mechanics.
  • Must have hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and/or to observe and communicate with participants.
  • Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization's physical premises as well as related community care settings.
  • Must be able to tolerate conditions typically associated within a medical office and/or home care setting including potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases.


Experience

  • 2 Years of direct service work, Preferred
  • 1 Year of experience in a Medical or Geriatric Care setting, Preferred
  • 1 year of experience working with a frail or elderly population, Preferred


License & Certification Requirements

  • Rhode Island Massage Therapist License (LMT)


Position Requirements

  • CPR Certification
  • Driver's License & access to reliable transportation: community-based travel may be required
