LIBRARY CLERK (PART-TIME)
REPORTS TO: CIRCULATION MANAGER
FLSA STATUS:NON-EXEMPT


PLEASE READ FIRST:

  • This is a part time, in-person position, working an 20-24 hours/per week. Evening and weekend (including Sunday) availability is required.
  • Paid time off is provided. Health benefits are not provided with this position.
  • Application deadline is: 4:00 P.M., Monday, August 31, 2026.
  • By State law, all positions that work with children require all three CHILD CLEARANCES be obtained in order to work near or with children. You should allow 4-6 weeks to obtain all clearances.If you work for at least one month, we will reimburse for the cost of the clearances ($60.25) that are obtained for you to work for us. NATURE OF WORK

We are looking for friendly, helpful individuals who enjoy working with the public and as part of a team. This is a part-time intermediate level clerical position. The Part-Time Clerk performs more complex work than the library pages and gives direction as needed to library pages.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform advanced work at circulation desk, including inter-library loan follow-up, route-ins and route-outs, reserved materials.
  • Perform advanced processing of books and other materials for cataloging and circulation.
  • Provide complex office support activities, including word processing, data entry, over-dues, memorial and donation books, book ordering, invoice checking.
  • Check overdue materials.
  • Assist with library programs and fundraising activities.
  • Assist patrons in using the library and its resources.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

  • Perform all tasks at circulation desk; fines, reserves, registration, interlibrary loan.
  • Process and mend library materials and also use computer to link new item records.
  • Assist with placing online materials orders.
  • Answer telephone and refer inquiries to appropriate person.
  • Word process and assist with preparation of reports, documents, and program materials.
  • Contribute to the library's social media and other communication channels.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Front line customer services experience strongly preferred.
  • Experienceworking or volunteering in a Library strongly preferred.
  • Experience with use of computers and office equipment.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS

While performing the duties of this job the employee: may be frequently required to move and/or lift materials up to 25 pounds and push a loaded book truck weighing up to 300 pounds; regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, reach, climb, balance, and sit; operate a keyboard at efficient speed and typical office equipment, including computer hardware; regularly required to talk and/or hear; use hands to operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Vision and hearing sufficient to perform essential job functions. Occasionally required to attend off-site meetings. Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
