Job Summary & Essential Functions

The position involved electronic design, embedded digital and analog design. Supplementary tasks include electro-mechanical systems, and a broad understanding of failure analysis while working in an ISO 9002 environment.

  • Develop digital, embedded and analog circuit design
  • Design embedded software
  • Design and develop test fixtures
  • Develop LabVIEW design
  • Coordinate and be responsible for the execution of a large project (broad in scope), or a number of smaller projects with complex features
  • Develop conceptual/preliminary designs for new projects and products
  • Participate in initial technical discussions with current and prospective customers as well as subsequent design review meetings
  • Lead design reviews
  • Administer electrical and mechanical design input to the engineering department
  • Develop bid proposals
  • Guide the CAD/CAE effort within engineering department
  • Develop test requirements and/or test procedures working with engineers and technicians
  • Define parts and components used in designs and systems
  • Collaborate with purchasing, production, quality and outside suppliers to set and meet schedules to accommodate customer requirements
  • Lead multi-disciplinary failure analysis
  • Provide support to manufacturing functions to ensure correct procedures and instructions utilized in building product
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to engineers
  • Adhere to General Requirements of Team Members

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of analog circuit design
  • Knowledge of prototyping methods
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of software with the ability to read and write code
  • Advanced knowledge of 3-D design tools, Solid Works
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN networking technologies, including Ethernet and TCP/IP
  • Advanced knowledge of analog and digital electronic circuits and theory
  • Ability in electronic circuit design
  • Advanced ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Advanced ability in electronic and electromechanical systems
  • Finite element analysis skills
  • Expert ability to troubleshoot down to the component level for both analog, digital, and embedded circuit/systems skills
  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot PC hardware
  • Advanced ability to specify engineering design tools
  • Advanced ability to perform root cause analysis
  • Advanced ability in schematic capture and electrical design
  • Advanced ability to design embedded systems
