What You'll Be Doing

The role is to be the Head of U.S. ABS Structuring leading the Analytics effort within a growing ABS Group for the U.S. platform for CIBC. CIBC is growing its U.S. Securitization platform and presence in ABS and this role is to be a part of that growth and part of the ABS team, which includes teams in both New York and Toronto. Candidates should have a strong analytical background and have very good familiarity with working with the top issuers in the auto, consumer, equipment, TMT sectors among others.

How You'll Succeed

  • Build new models and work with existing models to structure term ABS transactions across a variety of asset classes

  • "Tape cracking" , running collateral cashflows, creating pool strats, rep lines, formulating view on CNLs, working with new pool data files to assess viability of what structure / advance rate can be achieved

  • Educate junior Associates/Analysts on use of Intex, creating collateral strats and other supportive analytical functions

  • Ability to convert language and formulas in Offering documentation to deal models in Excel, Intex, servicer reports, etc.

  • Helping Bankers to provide and/or tie out any analytics appearing in offering documents for new issues including DEC tables, Discount rates, Fair Value Risk retention analysis, etc.

  • Work with Credit Risk / Office of CRO when seeking approval for new transactions / asset classes, stress testing, model development / training / validation

  • Work collaboratively with Originators and interact with rating agencies on new transactions and rating agency presentations for Left Lead roles

  • Create and run stress runs and break-even scenarios for bonds on both primary new issues and secondary trades when needed for investors

  • Provide analytical support for RFPs, pitch books, Term Sheets, presentations across asset classes

  • Tie-out pricing/coupons/yields/durations/wals and other structural details with other banks in new issue process

  • Performing Residual analysis for select issuers across variety of scenarios, loan/lease pool valuations

  • Supporting ABCP Conduit / balance sheet / securitization financing transactions when needed

  • Collaborate on analytics with other groups/desks including Derivatives, Sales, Repo, etc.

  • Be able to tailor models / cashflows to customize and optimize structures for issuers to achieve the best economics

  • Travel to clients, industry events as appropriate.

Who You Are

  • B.S. in STEM field, Ideal candidate has an advance degree in Mathematics or Engineering.

  • 15yrs of experience specifically in Term ABS analytics at a Leading "ABS Bank" with Left lead roles

  • Deep understanding of deal mechanics and structures used in the auto loan/lease/floorplan/fleet, consumer loan, equipment, TMT sectors, some esoteric such as data center and others

  • Strong quantitative background and high level of fluency with Excel, Intex Dealmaker, Intex Calc, CAS, VBA, Bloomberg and other platforms as needed in building models for transactions

  • Self-starter mindset but functioning as part of a close cross border team

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Current Series 7,63,79 or equivalent registrations

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary of $275,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
