Job description

Part-Time Organist
  • Compensation: $16,000 - 18,000 dependent upon experience
  • Responsibilities
    ● Provide organ music for Sunday morning worship, including prelude, offertory, communion music (when scheduled), and postlude.
    ● Accompany congregational hymns with confidence and sensitivity to worship.
    ● Accompany the church choir during weekly rehearsals and Sunday worship while the choir is in season.
    ● Participate in special worship services throughout the year, including Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Easter, Christmas Eve, and other         significant occasions.
    ● Arrange for a qualified substitute when unavailable
  • Qualifications
    ● Proficiency in organ performance.
    ● Experience accompanying congregational singing and choirs preferred.
    ● Strong sight-reading skills.
    ● Reliability, professionalism, and good communication skills.
    ● An appreciation for the mission and ministry of the church. Membership at Newtown United Methodist Church is not required.
