Purpose and Scope

Under the Direction of the Pastor, provide overall co-ordination of parish music program.

We are seeking a passionate and talented Gospel Piano/Keyboard Player to join our vibrant praise & worship team. This energetic role is vital in creating an inspiring and uplifting musical atmosphere that enhances spiritual experiences during services and special events. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, technical skill, and a deep love for Jesus Christ to help elevate our congregation’s worship experience. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to use your musical talents to inspire and connect with a diverse community through powerful gospel sounds at St. Josephine Bakhita.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Proven experience as a gospel pianist or keyboard player, with a strong portfolio of live performances.
  • Proficiency in playing piano or electronic keyboards with a solid understanding of gospel music styles and improvisation techniques.
  • Ability to read sheet music as well as improvise creatively within the gospel genre.
  • Strong sense of rhythm, harmony, and musical timing are essential for leading congregational singing.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and church leadership.
  • Flexibility to adapt performance style based on the specific needs of each service or event.
  • Experience with Afro Gospel is a plus but not required.
  • Commitment to punctuality, professionalism, and maintaining a positive attitude during rehearsals and performances.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in music or other related field, a minimum of 6 years liturgy experience in the Roman Catholic tradition, and proficiency in organ, piano, accompaniment and vocal/ choral conducting.
