Position Location
This position will be located onsite in Gadsden, Alabama.
Job Overview
The Maintenance Helper assists the maintenance tech workers with task completion. Work performed varies from trade to trade.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
  • Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
  • Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to students, management and line staff, corporate and DOL personnel and public groups.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret and manage data.
  • Ability to develop rapport and positive working relationships with all departments
  • Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
  • Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Adherence to established company safety policies and ability to work in a safe manner, using any required personal protective equipment (PPE) as may be required.
  • Compliance with company standard operating procedures and personnel policies and procedures.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One years related grounds keeping experience.
  • Successfully pass background check and drug test required on the contract.
  • Current, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Preferred:
  • Advanced training in landscaping, etc.
  • Working custodial knowledge of cleaning compounds, waxes, polishes, disinfectants, etc., and the proper application.

Working Conditions:
  • This position requires regular physical activity such as lifting, climbing, bending, and operating tools and equipment, often in varying weather conditions.
  • The position may involve exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and mechanical hazards, requiring adherence to established safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Physical Requirements:
  • This position requires the employee to be able to frequently required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Work somewhat close to other people, such as when sharing office space.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
