Objectives

  1. To perform under the direction of a Warehouse Foreman or Leadman, the work associated with such duties as inventory, issuing, receiving, and storage of equipment and materials, and maintenance of the records.
  2. To perform all work assignments in a safe and effective manner.

Reporting Relationships

  1. Reports to: Warehouse Foreman or Leadman
  2. Department: Operations Warehouse
  3. Directs: Warehouse Trainees as assigned.

Performs Personally

  1. Assist the Warehouse Foreman or Leadman in properly accounting for and maintaining supplies, materials, and equipment under the Warehouse jurisdiction.
  2. Read and interpret material pick lists to ensure proper materials and quantities are issued and returned consistent with accepted procedures.
  3. Operate a variety of material handling equipment such as, but not limited to, forklifts, flatbed trucks, and pallet jacks for issuance and receipt of materials and supplies.
  4. Perform physical inventories, as directed, to determine stock levels, and notifies Warehouse Foreman or Leadman of impending shortages.
  5. Perform good housekeeping practices in the Warehouse and outside storage laydown yards within the Warehouse areas of responsibility.
  6. Pick up, deliver, and haul materials to the crew at their request.
  7. Receive and process all warehouse inventory into the inventory management system.
  8. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Relationships

Internal

  • Warehouse Foreman or Leadman: Reports to, receives work assignments, and guidance. Discusses problems encountered in the work.

  • Other Chugach Departments: Coordinates with and exchanges information.

External

  • Maintains all relationships necessary to carry out Warehouse activities of the Association in a proper and businesslike manner.
  • Agencies, Engineers, Contractors, Utilities, and Vendors:  Coordinates with and exchanges information.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years or 4,000 hours of experience as a warehouseman or material handler for an Electrical Utility or Distribution and Transmission Contractor.

Abilities and Skills

  • Must be able to repeatedly lift and/or handle objects which are reasonable for a Warehouseman, consistent with Federal and State safety standards.
  • Must be able to reasonably demonstrate the ability to learn new materials and procedures as required.

Other Requirements

  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License.
  • Medical Examiner’s Certificate as required by the State of Alaska.
  • Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR Certificate or State of Alaska equivalent.
