What is Christian writing?

Christian writing refers to literature that is inspired by, based on, or aligned with Christian beliefs, values, and themes. This can include a wide variety of genres such as devotionals, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and instructional materials, all aiming to encourage, educate, or inspire readers in their faith. Christian writers often draw from the Bible, church traditions, and personal experiences of faith in their work. The purpose is typically to share the message of Christianity, provide spiritual encouragement, or explore moral and ethical questions from a Christian perspective.

What are some common challenges faced by Christian writers when balancing faith-based messaging with engaging storytelling?

Christian writers often navigate the challenge of authentically integrating faith-based themes without sacrificing story quality or character development. Striking a balance between conveying meaningful spiritual messages and creating relatable, compelling narratives requires sensitivity to diverse audiences and a deep understanding of both theology and literary craft. Collaboration with editors and fellow writers within faith communities can provide valuable feedback and support. Additionally, writers should stay updated on current trends in Christian publishing to ensure their work remains both relevant and respectful.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Christian writer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Christian Writer, you need a strong command of written English, a solid understanding of Christian theology, and often a degree in English, communications, or religious studies. Familiarity with publishing platforms, content management systems, and biblical reference tools is highly beneficial. Creativity, empathy, and cultural sensitivity help writers connect authentically with diverse faith-based audiences. These skills ensure that messages are communicated effectively, respectfully, and in alignment with Christian values.

What is the difference between Christian Writing vs Christian Content Creator?

Job description

The Christian Post is seeking a Freelance Branded Content Writer to craft compelling, sponsor-driven articles from a biblical, Christian worldview. The ideal candidate is a skilled and versatile writer with strong attention to detail, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for creating content that serves both our readers and our partners.
One of the world's largest Christian news outlets, The Christian Post reaches millions of readers each month. As we grow our branded content practice, you'll collaborate with our sales & marketing team to produce native articles, newsletters, and features that appear on ChristianPost.com - connecting readers with mission-aligned organizations across ministry, education, healthcare, and more. Your work won't just fill ad space; it will reach an engaged audience of believers with content that can genuinely make a difference.

What You'll Do
  • Research partner organizations, industries, audiences, and campaign objectives to develop effective story angles and messaging
  • Write engaging branded articles, sponsored features, newsletters, and other digital content

  • Develop clear, compelling headlines, calls to action, and supporting copy
  • Incorporate partner and internal feedback while maintaining clarity, accuracy, and quality
  • Handle complex and sensitive subject matter with thoughtfulness and appropriate nuance
  • Manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines without sacrificing quality
  • Collaborate closely with the Creative Strategy Lead and Strategic Partnership Managers throughout the content development process

What We're Looking For
  • Professional writing experience in branded content, editorial, advertising, marketing, agency, or a related field
  • Exceptional writing, editing, research, and proofreading skills
  • Experience translating campaign objectives into compelling reader-focused content
  • Strong understanding of Christian audiences, faith-based organizations, and topics relevant to the Church
  • Ability to adapt voice, tone, and approach across a wide range of organizations and subject areas
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under deadline
  • A collaborative, responsive, and professional approach to feedback
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assignments from brief through final draft
  • Familiarity with SEO and digital publishing best practices is a plus
