Job description

A Lakewood Ranch Christian School teacher is responsible for lesson planning and delivery while ensuring student academic and personal growth. We work within a creative, supportive, positive learning environment using the Responsive Classroom Model. Teachers plan lessons that align to state standards, assess student progress, and engage in communication with parents and colleagues to ensure students' needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

Lesson Planning and Delivery:

    • Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans aligned with Florida State standards.
    • Deliver lessons that are adapted for each students learning style and specific needs. Class sizes range from 10-12 student per level.
    • Foster student participation in an environment conducive to project based learning. Students are guided through curriculum and enrichment through PBL and passion projects.

Assessment and Evaluation:

    • Regularly assess student progress through assignments, project, student led conferencing, and class participation.
    • Provide constructive feedback to students and modify instructional strategies as needed.
    • Keep detailed records of student performance and report progress to parents and school administrators. Our school uses standards based grading for student assessment.

Classroom Management:

    • Create and maintain a positive classroom environment where students feel safe, respected, and engaged.
    • Implement effective classroom management strategies using the Responsive Classroom Model that encourages positive behavior and support students in resolving conflicts.

Student Support:

    • Provide individualized attention to students who need extra help or have specific learning needs.
    • Foster social-emotional development and guide students in building positive relationships.

Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration to develop school-wide initiatives and plan across the curriculum and grade levels.
    • Attend meetings, professional development workshops, and other school-related activities.
    • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.

Professional Development:

    • Stay current with educational research, teaching methods, and subject-area knowledge. Each teacher is responsible for maintaining their certification and exploring new initiatives to benefit the students.

Adherence to School Policies:

    • Follow school policies, including attendance, grading, and reporting procedures including the incorporation of the Christian leaning model in the classroom.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in education or a relevant subject area, Master's degrees preferred.
  • Valid Florida State Teaching certification (Professional Certificate only).
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in teaching.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Google Classroom, Gradelink or other electronic SIS, Responsive Classroom, PBL, prior Religious School experience.

Lakewood Ranch Christian School is a new, faith-based Kindergarten to 8th grade school in Lakewood Ranch. We are recruiting highly motivated and trained educators for our small model school. All candidates must complete a phone screening, in-person panel interview, and successful background screening prior to any offer of employment.
