About Pasadena Christian School:Pasadena Christian School is an independent Christian K-8 school that serves a diverse community ethnically, economically, and in the Christian faith. Job Summary:The Music Choral Director is responsible for leading and inspiring the school's choral program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about music education and have a deep understanding of vocal technique and repertoire.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Music Instruction:
  • Plan and coordinate choral performances for Kingdom Kids, Joyful Sounds, and Choral Workshop, including Grandparents’ Day and the Christmas Program.
  • Teach vocal techniques and music theory to choir members.
  • Select an appropriate repertoire that aligns with the choir’s skill level and goals.
  • Organize and coordinate choral events.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages collaboration and creativity.
  • Stay current with trends in choral music and music education, incorporating new methodologies and technologies.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to teachers and administration.
  • Maintain communication with students, parents, and the community regarding performances and expectations.
  • Collaborate with staff to integrate choral music into the broader curriculum.
  • Plan, develop, produce, direct, choreograph, and coordinate a once yearly music theatre production including Joyful sounds and choral workshop in the spring.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Experience with diverse musical genres and styles.
  • Familiarity with digital music tools and technology for education.
  • Knowledge of vocal health and techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in music education, Choral Conducting, or a related field (master’s preferred).
  • Experience conducting choirs at the [elementary/middle/high school/community] level.
  • Proficiency in vocal technique and music theory.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying skill levels.

  • Able to lift, bend, grasp, reach, and lift to 20 lbs.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, work in a busy environment, learn, and retain information.
  • Possesses a genuine commitment to Christian service. Has initiative and creativity, is highly productive, and is flexible.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Agrees with the school’s statement of faith and the purpose and goals of PCS in providing an integrated Christian education.
Technologies:
  • Proficient in Google Apps, and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
Compensation: The annual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to salary, PCS offers a generous benefits package including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision benefit plans for eligible employees.
