Christian Non Profit information

What is a Christian non profit?

A Christian non-profit organization is a charitable or service-based group that operates according to Christian values and beliefs. These organizations typically focus on humanitarian efforts, such as providing food, shelter, education, or medical care, while also promoting spiritual growth and Christian teachings. They are usually funded through donations, grants, and volunteers rather than profit-driven activities. Their primary mission is to serve others and make a positive impact in communities, often both locally and internationally.

What are Christian non profit jobs?

Christian non-profit jobs include ministers, teachers, administrative assistants, and pastors. Your responsibilities as a Christian nonprofit minister include holding prayer services, leading worship service, meeting with people of the congregation who need spiritual guidance or have questions about their faith, teaching religion classes, and providing ministry leadership for the community or foundation. A pastor’s duties include creating and delivering sermons, helping with any organization or church financial matters, overseeing, supporting, and evaluating the staff of a congregation, ensuring the proper function of church facilities, overseeing the management of the church’s ministry, and coordinating ministries through staff meetings. Teachers execute lesson plans, maintain student grade reports, provide tutoring as necessary to individual students, and may help to design curriculum. Administrative assistants answer phones, plan meetings, maintain and update office procedures, facilitate correspondence, maintain office supply inventory, and schedule and organize appointments.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive in a leadership role at a Christian non profit, and why are they important?

To thrive in a leadership role at a Christian non-profit, you typically need a background in nonprofit management, fundraising, and a strong understanding of Christian values and mission-driven work. Familiarity with donor management systems, nonprofit financial software, and relevant certifications such as the Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential are often valuable. Excellent communication, cultural sensitivity, and servant leadership are important soft skills for inspiring teams and engaging diverse communities. These abilities are crucial for advancing the organization's mission, securing resources, and building trust among stakeholders.

What are some unique challenges faced when working at a Christian non profit?

Working at a Christian non-profit often involves balancing a commitment to faith-based values with the practical demands of serving diverse communities. You may encounter challenges such as securing funding while maintaining your mission integrity, navigating religious and cultural sensitivities among clients or stakeholders, and integrating ministry with social service. Additionally, team members usually collaborate closely across departments, requiring strong communication and adaptability. Many find the environment rewarding, as it fosters personal growth and meaningful impact, but being prepared for these challenges can help you thrive in the role.

Job Title: Associate Licensed Therapist
Location: Southeast Houston - (17629 El Camino Real, Houston, TX 77058)

Are you called to grow into a strong, biblically grounded therapist?
Are you in the final phase of your clinical development and looking for more than just supervision-but true formation as a therapist?
Do you want to learn how to lead sessions with clarity, confidence, and conviction, while integrating both clinical excellence and biblical truth?
If so, this role is designed for you.
Why join Genesis Family?
At Genesis Family Inc., we are a biblically-based 501(c)(3) organization committed to restoring the family unit to God's original design.
What makes us different:
  • We integrate Scripture and clinical modalities, not replace one with the other
  • We actively provide financial scholarships for clients in need
  • We are a growing organization where you will be developed intentionally-not left on your own
  • We train therapists to become confident, structured, and assertive clinicians

Tanya, therapist at Genesis Family: "What I love most about my job is helping clients walk in the freedom God intended for them."
What you'll do
As an Associate Therapist, you will:
  • See 5-7 clients per day (max ~30/week full-time)
  • Conduct structured, goal-oriented sessions

  • Apply and grow in modalities like CBT, solution-focused therapy, etc.
  • Integrate biblical principles appropriately into care
  • Complete documentation and collaborate with your team
  • Participate in clinical development and supervision (paid by us for full-time)

You will not just "gain hours"-you will be trained to become a high-level clinician.
Who we are looking for
We are highly selective. We are not just hiring for skill-we are hiring for character, conviction, and coachability.
You are someone who:
  • Has a working knowledge of the Bible and desires to grow in applying it in counseling
  • Is teachable and open to feedback and development
  • Is willing to learn how to be assertive and directive in sessions
  • Can explain basic therapy modalities in simple terms
  • Has a genuine passion for people and family restoration (not just a job)
  • Is highly motivated and a self-starter
  • Can work with diverse populations (children, teens, couples, families)
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, not just textbook knowledge
  • Is aligned with our mission, vision, and statement of faith

Requirements

  • Willingness to work in-person + telehealth
  • Saturday availability required (initially)

  • Supervision fully paid (for full-time therapists)
  • Zion HealthShare plan covered (after 90 days of becoming salaried, working 32+ hrs)
  • Generous PTO structure with performance incentives.
  • Clear growth path into leadership roles or clinical specializations.

Work Environment
  • No crisis calls
  • Strong team culture + collaboration
  • Focus on work-life balance
