Job description

The Recovery Home Associate Director will have the opportunity to shape the program and inspire a transformative journey for individuals battling addiction.

Job Objective: The Recovery Home Associate Director will lead the program's operation, ensuring the effective substance use disorder recovery support for individuals served.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for overall functions and operations of the Recovery Home
  • Writes a personal Recovery Plan with the client using ASAM dimensions
  • Must meet with each incoming client for orientation to review the welcome packet, complete the intake process and ensure all required documents are signed
  • Monitor and implement the house rules, policies and procedures of the Recovery Home
  • Organizes and conducts social and cultural activities to promote sobriety and awareness about substance use
  • Maintains confidential client records and/or data in a secured manner; completes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in a timely manner
  • Performs other related duties and other duties as requested and/or necessary
  • Maintains required training hours for staff
  • Maintains open communication with Social Services Director and Area Commanders and other staff as it relates to the necessary flow of the job and programs
  • Networks with internal and external programs that can benefit the clients in the Recovery Home
  • Develops educational, vocational, recreational, spiritual, and support options for clients in the Recovery Home both within the program and the community
  • Designs peer mentoring and recovery support services
  • Provides classes, groups, and individual counseling for clients
  • Continually remains up to date on individual, group, and family recovery supports approaches
  • Utilizes effective retention techniques and evidence -based approaches to maintain participation such as motivational interviewing techniques and will incorporate ROSC principles throughout the process
  • Attends community meetings as requested

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor's degree in a human service field preferred

Experience: Relevant experience required; direct shared experience or family member and a minimum of five years of sobriety required

Certifications/Licenses: NCRS, or Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor within two years

Skills/Abilities:

  • A commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army and an appreciation for faith-based service organizations
  • Proficiency in understanding addiction, treatment, knowledge, application to practice, and recovery orientated systems of care (ROSC) related to the client, family and community
  • An interpersonal style that is service oriented as well as anticipates and responds to the needs of clients
  • Able to learn and use the screening tools and recovery plan of the program
  • A flexible style that also displays a willingness to learn
  • Able to work as a team member as well as independently
  • An excellent attention to detail, procedures, processes, and policies
  • Able to work cooperatively with the supervisor, management team and support staff
  • Must have a strong sense of integrity and be able to work with confidential material
  • Able to effectively work with diversity in the workplace
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Well organized, attentive to time management and able to establish a separation of work and personal boundaries

Supervisory Responsibility: Recovery Home Operator, Cook, Support Specialist

Physical Requirements: Employee must have the ability to sustain physical activity both inside and outside for extended periods of time. Work requires ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel and lift up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job.

Travel: Local travel may occur daily

Driving: Driving is required. Employee must possess a valid driver's license from the state of residence; must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business

Working Conditions: The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low to medium noise level. Must be able to work with clients that have poor social skills, suffer from mental illness, and have substance use and mental health issues.
