Job description

The work schedule for this position is on first shift.  Variable shifts will occasionally be required based on demand. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as technical expert for highspeed canning, filling, seaming, and related packaging systems.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting involving mechanical, electrical, controls, and product qualityrelated failures within canning operations.
  • Apply advanced precision maintenance techniques to optimize seamer setup, filler performance, container handling, and overall equipment capability.
  • Plan, lead, and execute major equipment overhauls, rebuilds, and multiday maintenance activities using internal and external resources.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and defect elimination efforts related to can integrity, quality losses, downtime, and repeat equipment failures.
  • Partner closely with Operations, FSQ, Engineering, and OEM vendors to improve process stability, reliability, and equipment performance.
  • Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, new installations, and commissioning within canning and packaging areas.
  • Develop, deliver, and support advanced technical training for maintenance personnel supporting canning equipment.
  • Ensure maintenance work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, maintainability, safety, and operational performance.
  • Supervise and coordinate work activities of assigned hourly electrical staff; this role does not include disciplinary authority.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Twoyear technical degree or equivalent advanced industrial maintenance experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience supporting highspeed canning, filling, or packaging equipment.
  • OEM certification(s) or advanced training on canning, filling, or seaming equipment.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise with seamers, fillers, conveyors, and related packaging systems.
  • Proven ability to lead complex troubleshooting and major equipment repairs or overhauls.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems with applied understanding of electrical and controls interfaces.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and coordinate work activities without disciplinary authority.
  • Ability to efficiently learn and use business and technical software tools-including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, the company's EAMS/CMMS, and Outlook-to support maintenance planning, documentation, and analysis.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting up to 50 pounds; twisting, bending, kneeling, and crawling on top of or under equipment; working in hot and cold environments; operating aerial lifts; using ladders; and working at heights.

Preferred

  • CMRT, PMMI, or equivalent maintenance or packaging certification.
  • Experience leading reliability improvement, quality defect elimination, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience supporting capital projects or new equipment installations in packaging environments.
