The Cook plans and prepares meals for the children of the Child and Family Development Center. Responsible for kitchen cleanliness and complying with licensing regulations. Also, this role is responsible for ordering, purchasing, and receiving food and kitchen supplies and ensuring that all orders are correctly filled and stored.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Plans and prepares a nutritiously balanced lunch each day for the Child and Family Development Center.
  • Responsible for ordering, purchasing and receiving food and kitchen supplies and in assuring that all orders are correctly filled and stored.
  • When necessary, goes to market, discount stores, etc. to purchase supplies at the best price available.
  • Keeps the kitchen clean and in compliance with licensing.
  • Operates kitchen equipment (stove, dishwasher, mixer, cuisinart, etc.).
  • Is responsive to client and staff questions and suggestions about food and when possible, to particular individual needs.
  • Responds to agency needs by performing assigned tasks which do not fall within the above description. If such tasks are not of a temporary nature, they should be added to this list of designated job responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (Required)
  • Two years of experience working in a kitchen in an institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and economical, quality, food preparation.
  • Knowledge planning and preparing a nutritiously balanced lunch each day for the Child and Family Development Center.
  • Experience operating kitchen equipment (stove, dishwasher, mixer, Cuisinart, etc.).

Hourly rate: $17.66/per hour
Schedule: Monday throiugh Friday 7 am - 3:30 pm
This is a full-time non-exempt position.
