Job description
The Team The Chilliwack Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) team is an established group dedicated to providing evidence-based, family-centered mental health services to children, youth, and their families. Our team collaborates closely with Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) colleagues, including child and family service workers, psychiatrists, and community partners like the local school district, to promote mental well-being and resilience. With nine full-time team members and two contract psychiatrists, we pride ourselves on our strong camaraderie, supporting each other through every challenge and sharing in the rewards of our meaningful work.
The Role The Mental Health Support Worker is at the heart of making a difference by offering culturally sensitive and ethically sound support to clients and their families both in the community and on reserve. You'll collaborate with a Clinician, follow tailored assessment and treatment plans, and lead engaging group programs on topics like healthy boundaries and reducing anxiety. Reporting to the Team Leader, you'll provide compassionate counselling support and practical education to children, youth, and their families, helping them navigate mental health challenges with strength and resilience.

Qualifications: Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology or Child and Youth Care, or equivalent field of study. Experience working in child and youth mental health services.
Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e., from another Canadian Province). Preference May Be Given to Applicants with One (1) or More of the Following: One (1) or more years experience working within Ministry's Child and Youth Mental Health programs. Experience supporting children, youth, and/or families who exhibit challenging behaviors, including aggression and violence
Additional training related to mental health and suicide intervention (e.g., ASIST, SafeTALK, or equivalent). Experience maintaining clinical records, case documentation, and client service plans. Experience working collaboratively with schools, community agencies, and multidisciplinary service providers
Experience providing mental health education, skill-building, or support services to children, youth, and families. Experience supporting children and youth with mental health challenges that significantly impact functioning at home, school, or in the community.
