Job description
The University of Chicago's Department of Radiology invites applications for a Section Chief of Musculoskeletal Imaging at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor on the School of Medicine track. This is a unique opportunity to lead and grow a thriving Musculoskeletal Imaging program at a world-class academic institution. The University seeks a visionary leader with a collaborative spirit and a passion for patient-centered care, academic excellence, and innovation. The Section Chief will have the opportunity to:
- Build and lead a high-performing clinical team within a supportive and collegial department.
- Shape the strategic direction of MSK imaging across UChicago Medicine's expanding clinical enterprise, including regional sites and community partnerships.
- Drive clinical innovation, including advanced MSK imaging and image-guided interventions, supported by state-of-the-art technology and strong institutional investment.
- Collaborate with internationally recognized basic, clinical, and translational researchers to launch and grow academic initiatives.
- Enhance education and mentorship in one of the nation's premier radiology training programs, with opportunities to shape curricula and foster trainee development.
The Section Chief will participate in strategic planning, budgeting, faculty recruitment, and operational oversight for the Section; nurture relationships with referring providers; and contribute to institutional outreach. Clinical responsibilities include the full spectrum of MSK imaging and procedures. Protected administrative time is provided to support leadership activities. Weekly remote reading days are available, and the position includes teaching, supervision of trainees, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. Opportunities to earn additional income through a productivity-based incentive model are readily available. These positions are benefits-eligible. The University of Chicago offers a wide range of benefits programs and resources for eligible employees, including health, retirement, and paid time off. Information about the benefit offerings can be found in the Benefits Guidebook.
