POSITION SUMMARY:


As Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Regionโ€™s Chief Financial Officer, you will become a key partner in developing, monitoring, governing, and evaluating the overall corporate strategy, planning, and analysis with a focus on bottom line financial and operating performance.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management



  • Manage the organizationโ€™s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and auditing. Ensure that the financial transactions, policies, and procedures meet the organizationโ€™s short and long-term business objectives and are conducted in accordance with all appropriate regulations, accounting principles, and standards.

  • Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements. Ensure the timely reporting of key financial data and updates to key stakeholders.

  • Manage cash flow and forecasting.

  • Manage bidding, proposals, recommendations, and contracts for all third party subcontractors for the organization, excluding construction subcontractors.

  • Develop and implement the financial strategy of the organization. This includes longterm financial planning and forecasting, risk management, and investment strategies.

  • Partner with the senior leadership team on all operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide strategic recommendations to the senior leadership team based on financial analysis and projections cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.


Risk Management and Compliance



  • Administer all operational risk management activities of the organization, including but not limited to maintaining internal control systems, ensuring adequate insurance coverage, managing fraud-mitigation protocols, monitoring compliance with Habitat for Humanity International standards.

  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial and grant-related functions. This includes compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations and statutory grant requirements.


Leadership



  • Direct the Finance team and ensure their ongoing professional development and training.

  • Engage other members of the senior leadership team to facilitate cross-department collaboration that ensures that all financial solutions positively support the organizationโ€™s evolving strategy, operational delivery, and data collection needs.

  • Establish and develop relationships with the Board of Directors, Committee members, Habitat for Humanity affiliate personnel, external partners and other stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting or equivalent, with 7-10 years of related experience; non-profit experience preferred.

  • CPA

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clear, concise, and impactful interactions with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Demonstrate exceptional analytical abilities and representational skills, effectively interpret financial data and present insights to stakeholders.
