Job description

About the Role:

  • In-person position from Monday to Friday at our South Jordan, UT office

The Purpose of Your Role
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the financial operations of the organization including managing the day-to-day billing, collection, accounts receivable and payables, strategic financial planning, maintaining and establishing profitable banking relationships, overseeing budgeting, forecasting , compliance, tax planning and reporting. In these roles you will ensure the financial health of the organization both now and in the future, especially the ability of the organization to open up 15-25 new clinics each year.


The CFO will also oversee two additional departments including risk management, and Information Technology. The CFO will work closely with the Executive Team to support business objectives and lead financial initiatives to drive long-term growth and sustainability.


Success Indicators/KPIs

  • Financial Compliance: 100% adherence to healthcare financial regulations, including JHACO and HIPAA requirements.
  • Budget Accuracy: Maintain budget variances within 5%.
  • Revenue Cycle Efficiency: Optimize collections to achieve > 98% of expected reimbursements.
  • Operational Cash Flow: Ensure positive cash flow to support day-to-day operations and expansion.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Achieve executive team satisfaction rating of 4.5 or higher for financial leadership and support.
  • Banking relationships: Lines of credit are in place to support current and future cash needs.

Strategic Financial Planning

  • Develop and oversee long-term financial plans in alignment with the companys growth and expansion goals.
  • Conduct financial modeling to inform strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and other high-impact decisions.

Revenue Cycle Management

  • Oversee billing, collections, and insurance processes, ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement for services provided.
  • Collaborate with Billing and Utilization Management teams to streamline revenue cycle efficiency.

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including JHACO and HIPAA standards, and implement robust internal controls.
  • Lead the risk management strategy, including insurance and contractual risk mitigation.
  • Leadership and Development
  • Mentor and develop the finance team, promoting professional growth and maintaining a high- performance culture.
  • Create and monitor SMART goals with the executive team to continuously enhance financial operations.

The Skills and Expertise You Have

  • Education: Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of senior financial management experience, with a preference for experience in healthcare or behavioral health.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial software, EMR systems, and regulatory compliance tools.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of healthcare finance regulations, including JHACO and HIPAA.
  • Professional Attributes: Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills, with flexibility to adapt to a fast-growing organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare Finance Experience: 10+ years of experience in healthcare finance or a similar environment.
  • Data Analysis Skills: Proficiency in data analysis for predictive financial modeling and reporting.
  • Strategic Insight: Experience in mergers, acquisitions, or expansion initiatives within healthcare.
