How much do chicken catching jobs pay per hour?
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Chicken Catching position, and why are they important?
To thrive as a Chicken Catcher, you need strong physical stamina, agility, and attention to animal handling techniques, usually with on-the-job training rather than formal qualifications. Familiarity with equipment such as poultry crates, transport modules, and sometimes handheld counters is beneficial. Effective communication, teamwork, and a conscientious approach to animal welfare are valuable soft skills in this field. These abilities help ensure chickens are caught efficiently, safely, and humanely while maintaining productivity and minimizing animal stress.
What is a Chicken Catching job?
A Chicken Catching job involves gathering live chickens from poultry farms and placing them into crates or transport containers for processing or relocation. Workers typically catch chickens by hand, often in dimly lit conditions, to minimize stress on the birds. The job requires physical stamina, teamwork, and attention to animal handling procedures. It is commonly performed during nighttime or early morning hours to align with farm schedules and processing needs.
What is the typical work environment and schedule for chicken catching jobs?
Chicken catching roles are often performed in agricultural or poultry farm settings, where the team works closely together to safely round up and load birds for transport. Shifts may occur during late nights or early mornings to accommodate the needs of poultry operations, so flexibility is important. The work is physically demanding and usually involves working in temperature-controlled barns or chicken houses. Teamwork is essential, as tasks are coordinated to ensure efficiency and the highest standards of animal welfare. This experience can also be a stepping stone to broader roles within the poultry or agricultural industry.

Job description
Were looking for a Quality Assurance Inspector to help ensure our products and processes meet the highest standards, every time.
At Winston, quality isnt something we check at the end. Its something we build in from the start.
As a Quality Assurance Inspector, youre right in the middle of that. Youre the one making sure what leaves this building actually meets the standard we expect and the one our customers count on.
Youve got a sharp eye, a low tolerance for close enough, and the confidence to call something out when its not right. You dont just find problems; you help fix them for good.
What Youll Actually Be Doing
Owning Quality at Every Step
Youll inspect incoming materials, in-process builds, and finished products before they ship. Sheet metal, hardware, electronics - youll make sure it all meets spec.
Catching Issues (and Driving Solutions)
When somethings off, youll document it, flag it, and help drive corrective and preventive actions. Youll be part of the root cause process, not just handing problems off.
Working Across the Team
Youll work closely with engineering and production to solve issues quickly and keep things moving. Youll also be a go-to when customer-related quality issues come up.
Tracking Performance and Improving It
Youll enter and analyze data, monitor trends, and help establish baseline quality metrics. If something can be improved, youll help make it happen.
Holding the Standard (and Raising It)
Youll support training, help onboard new team members, and set the tone for what Winston quality really looks like on the floor.
What Were Looking For
- A sharp eye for detail - especially cosmetic and dimensional defects
- 3-5 years of quality inspection experience
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, including GD&T
- Strong working knowledge of measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
- Comfort working with data and using it to drive decisions
- Confidence to communicate clearly and collaborate across teams
- Experience with CMM, laser measurement, or AutoCAD is a plus.
Why Youll Love Winston
At Winston, we know profits matter. But chasing dollars isnt what drives our decisions. What does? People. We genuinely appreciate every single contribution our team members bring to the table, and we work hard to make Winston a better place to be every day. Culture isnt an afterthought here - its the core. We love to grow talent from within, but were just as open to fresh ideas and knowledge from outside voices. Are we perfect? Nope. But were honest about that, and we stay focused on our vision: to make money and have fun doing it. After all, we helped revolutionize fried chicken, so youd better believe we know how to keep things crispy, fun, and worth savoring.
The Details
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Solid math skills (algebra, geometry, trigonometry)
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions
- Sound judgment, attention to detail, and a positive, team-first attitude
Ready to Own Quality Where It Counts? If youre the one people trust to get it right and keep it that way, youre going to like it here.
