Job description

Summary:

The Chicago Tribune, a subsidiary of Tribune Publishing, is seeking a Driver to join our team for distribution! Employees in this role are represented by Drivers Chicago Union.

Please note, this is an evening shift with the start time between 8pm-10pm and schedules change week to week so flexibility is a must

What you will do:

  • Drive a tractor-trailer truck (requiring a Class A CDL)

  • Ensure the efficient and accurate delivery of newspapers and supplements to the market

  • Deliver freight and magazines as needed

  • Break down, sort, and prepare freight, film, and magazines for shipment to statewide customer distribution centers

  • Verify truck loads by checking newspaper, supplement, and magazine bundles for accurate counts

  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries

  • Maintain a safe driving record by consistently practicing defensive driving skills

What you will bring:

  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

  • Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a variety of people

  • A customer-first mindset with a demonstrated commitment to satisfaction

  • Well developed communication, organization, and basic math skills

  • Ability to operate a pallet jack

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Benefits and Compensation:


The hourly wage is $37.57. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
