Job description

The soon-to-be Courtyard by Marriott Kansas City Airport is now accepting applicants for Bistro Kitchen Staff. The Bistro at Courtyard is a chic, fast-casual concept restaurant offering an eclectic menu including a variety of refreshing to-go options as well as full sit-down fare including cocktails, wine, beer, and Starbucks coffee. The hotel is located at 7901 NW Tiffany Springs Prkwy, Kansas City MO 64153.

TYPICAL SHIFT TIMES:
  • AM SHIFT: 5:30AM - 11:30AM Monday - Friday or 6:30AM - 12:30PM Saturday & Sunday.
  • PM SHIFT: 4:30PM - 11:00PM Sunday - Saturday.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist for hotel restaurant and catered functions.
  • Understands food cost and portion control without sacrificing quality.
  • Assists with quality and presentation issues, cleanliness, and organization of kitchen and restaurant when necessary.
  • Accommodates Guests’ special requests.
  • Adheres to proper food handling and safety guidelines at all times. Inventory and Control
  • Assists with inventory, ordering and receiving of all Food and Beverage items as directed.
  • Maintains & enforces sanitation laws and safety standards with anyone entering the kitchen area.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with Guests, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Adheres to proper grooming and dress codes for the department.
  • Carries out hotel emergency procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as directed, developed, or assigned.
  • Language Skills: Must be able to understand the proper use of kitchen equipment and verbal instructions.

Requirements:
  • Food preparation, ability to follow recipes, adhere to all food safety guidelines, and excellent customer service skills.
  • Operate equipment such as, but not limited to, oven, grill, stove, dishwasher, and utensils.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including, weekends and holidays.
