For the 2026-2027 recruiting season, Chevron is accepting online applications for Earth Science Interns located in:

  • Houston, Texas

Earth Scientists within Chevron are part of multi-disciplinary teams which vary in make-up but can include geologists, geophysicists, engineers, data scientists, and/or software developers. Earth Scientists develop technical skills in geoscience, geophysics, and petrophysics assignments focused on exploration, development, reservoir characterization, and well operations.

Earth Science interns are assigned to positions and projects that contribute value to Chevron based on degree, relevant academic preparation, previous work experience, and career objectives. Interns will be provided guidance by a supervisor and a technical mentor.

We encourage the following candidates to apply:

Geologists with specialties such as basin modeling, basin analysis, stratigraphy, structural geology, geochemistry, seal analysis, reservoir quality prediction, reservoir modeling, geostatistics, geomechanics, and fluid flow.

Geophysicists with specialties such as seismic acquisition, seismic imaging and processing, cloud computing, quantitative geophysical interpretation and attribute analysis, velocity modeling, geophysical surveillance, geophysical inversion, and potential fields.

Required Qualifications:

  • Students currently enrolled in a Master's or Doctorate Thesis program or with less than 2 years post-graduate degree experience in geology, geophysics, geological engineering, or related fields.
  • Professional/academic focus in a technical area aligned with Chevron's business needs.
  • Strong academic performance in core programs, communication, leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Position may require driving on a routine basis.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with industry workflows for subsurface characterization.
  • Participation in an energy industry or sponsored university research project.
  • Practical experience with geoscience coding, data science, and/or machine learning.

Relocation Options:

  • Relocation may be considered within Chevron guidelines and policies.
