Job description

What You’ll Actually Do

Process Engineering interns will be assigned a process engineering mentor and one or more projects during their internship to support operating facilities through the application of technical engineering knowledge and project management skills.

  • Optimize facilities to deliver maximum value safely and reliably.
  • Provide technical engineering support for turnarounds and projects.
  • Develop and deploy industry‑leading technologies to reduce carbon, increase efficiency and maximize returns.
  • Use digitalization and data analytics to improve process operations and safety.
What You Must Have
  • Students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering.
  • Strong academic performance in core programs, communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate the Chevron Way.
Compensation & Benefits

Monthly (hourly) range: $28.25 hourly – $8,300 monthly. Compensation will be determined based on role, degree level, and academic year.

Benefits for interns include:

  • Furnished housing.
  • Participation in the Employee Savings Investment Plan with immediate vesting.
  • Flexible work schedules (5/40, 9/80, or 4/10) as determined by the work group.
  • Paid holidays depending on schedule.
  • Full year of service credit for each internship completion (must be re‑employed within 365 days).

After conversion to a full‑time position, Chevron offers competitive pay and benefits, including healthcare, time off, retirement plans, and development opportunities.

Relocation & Visa

Relocation may be considered.

Chevron is unable to sponsor employment visas or consider individuals on time‑limited visa status for this position. Applicants who are citizens or permanent residents of countries subject to comprehensive U.S. trade sanctions cannot be considered.

After the internship, top performers may be invited back or offered a full‑time role. New graduates enter the Horizons Program, a five‑year early‑career development program with formal training, on‑the‑job learning, mentorship, multiple job assignments, and possible location rotations. Engineers may pursue roles in Reliability & Integrity Engineering, Technical Safety Engineering, Engineering Design & Projects, General Facilities Engineering, or advance to supervisory or managerial positions.
