Job Description

Key Responsibilities May Include:

  • Visit and engage non-participating distributors, pallet recyclers, and other locations to recover CHEP assets that have exited the network, using negotiation and relationship-building techniques.
  • Monitor and track the flow of CHEP assets within the assigned territory, ensuring all equipment is accounted for and recovered promptly.
  • Take responsibility for identifying and tracking non-participating distributor transfers into the territory, securing the return of CHEP equipment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with non-participating distributors and local pallet recyclers to facilitate ongoing asset recovery efforts.
  • Maintain regular contact with the local recycler community to ensure open communication and efficient recovery of CHEP assets.
  • Establish and cultivate new business relationships, encouraging potential customers to participate in the CHEP program and sign on as partners.
  • Work closely with Logistics Coordinators and other CHEP employees to coordinate recovery efforts and ensure timely and successful asset retrieval.

Position Purpose

The CHEP LVR (Class A) Transport Driver will be responsible for executing full truck load and/or multiple stop truckload deliveries and collections daily utilizing Class 8 equipment (Tractor/Trailer). They will be responsible for route and volume optimization through the development of customer and internal support partnerships. They will be actively involved in the development and implementation of key growth components of the CHEP LVR Program. This will include partnering with multiple internal functions, building, and executing project plans as well as leading teammates through training of new processes.

Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Operate a CHEP operated tractor/trailer combo (or similar equipment) in compliance with all DOT Regulations and CHEP Safety requirements
  • Execute deliveries and collection of empty pallets (and possibly other assets) at locations provided by CHEP as efficiently as possible
  • Maintain and be responsible for the ongoing mechanical and physical operation of all equipment assigned to them. This will include ensuring preventive maintenance, pre and post trip inspections and all physical damage reporting and repairs.
  • Work with local customers on program compliance to drive efficiencies and increase collection volumes
  • Document all delivery and collection data (times, mileages, volumes, customer comments, etc.) and communicate to CHEP LVR support personnel
  • Visit potential collection locations to explain the CHEP LVR Program, gather data/information with the goal being adding locations to the Program's customer base

Qualifications

  • Class A DOT Driver License
  • Minimum 2 years Tractor-Trailer driving experience
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card with no restrictions
  • Ability to hook and unhook trailers from tractors
