Position Title: Visiting Assistant Professor / Lecturer in Chemistry (Non-Tenure Track)

Department: Chemistry

Reports To: Dr. Conrad Ingram, Chair, Department of Chemistry


The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed and are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified. All duties listed are essential functions for the position. It is understood that other related duties may be assigned.


General Function (Description): Clark Atlanta University (CAU) is a private, historically Black university formed in 1988 from the merger of Atlanta University and Clark College. A United Methodist-affiliated R2 institution, CAU serves over 4,400 students and offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees with a focus on research, leadership, and social justice. The Department of Chemistry invites applications for one-year full-time non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor/Lecturer beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will primarily teach General Chemistry and Physical Chemistry, including associated laboratories, while contributing to undergraduate education and student success.


Qualifications Required

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field preferred; candidates with a Master's degree and substantial college-level teaching experience will also be considered.

• Demonstrated excellence or strong potential in undergraduate teaching.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred

• Experience with active-learning pedagogies and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas). • Commitment to mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.
