Position Summary
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is seeking a self-motivated, organized, adaptable, and personable individual to join our administrative team as the Coordinator of Student & Graduate Services, starting in August 2026. Our department is home to more than four dozen graduate students studying and performing research in various fields of Chemistry. Additionally, the department also has three undergraduate majors which students can study.
This individual would be part of the dynamic administrative team and would primarily work with our faculty and graduate students, but would also work with to engage undergraduate students interest in Chemistry research and graduate studies through outreach and marketing materials.
This role would involve the following responsibilities:
  • Ensuring graduate student contracts are completed within University and union timelines
  • Assist Graduate studies committee with navigation of graduate studies application platforms
  • Generate offer letters for accepted graduate students
  • Develop and implement departmental graduate student orientation
  • Advise graduate students on departmental degree requirements, class registration, PI selection, Graduate Studies expectations, GEO guidelines, and other needs
  • Complete workflows for departmental awards/scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Work with the Integrated Education and Research Committee and Graduate Studies Committee to develop recruitment plans, materials, events
  • Work with the Integrated Education and Research Committee and Graduate Studies Committee to develop career services activities.
  • Other duties and administrative support needs as part of the administrative team as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Two years experience working with UNM systems in an academic setting
