The role acts as both a market-access protector and a digital product owner for PSRA, partnering with engineering, R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, legal, IT, data science, and commercial teams to embed regulatory requirements and compliance intelligence throughout the product lifecycle and enterprise workflows.
Dual Mandate Accountability
Regulatory Authority Mandate
- Serve as the authoritative internal expert for global hardware and chemical control regulatory regimes.
- Protect global market access and business continuity through timely, defensible regulatory decisions.
- Lead interpretation, implementation, and governance of chemical and product compliance obligations across regions.
Digital & AI Enablement Mandate
- Own PSRA business systems, data architecture, and advanced analytics capabilities in order to support PSRA team regulatory compliance tasks.
- Translate regulatory requirements into scalable digital controls, automated workflows, and AI-assisted decision support.
- Work withing the Stage Gate process to ensure regulatory intelligence is embedded directly into product, supply chain, and customer-facing processes.
Key Accountabilities / Expected Results
- Ensure sustained global compliance of fire suppression hardware and chemical agent products across all served markets.
- Act as regulatory decision authority for complex or high-risk global compliance issues.
- Lead regulatory strategy for high-complexity NPI, sustaining products, and major material or supplier changes.
- Deliver scalable, system-enabled regulatory intelligence through modern business platforms and AI-driven tools.
- Anticipate emerging regulatory risks and proactively mitigate business, supply chain, and product safety impacts.
Core Responsibilities
Global Regulatory & Chemical Control Leadership
- Lead interpretation and application of global chemical and hardware regulatory regimes, including TSCA, REACH (Registration & SVHC), RoHS, WEEE, CPSC, Proposition 65, CE/UKCA, DSL/NDSL, SCIP, and analogous APAC and LATAM regulations.
- Own global regulatory impact assessments and compliance pathways for new and revised regulations.
- Establish defensible approaches for substance restrictions, material declarations, labeling, documentation, and customer disclosures.
- Serve as regulatory escalation point for audits, customer inquiries, and enforcement-related issues.
Product Development, Manufacturing & Lifecycle Compliance
- Embed global regulatory requirements into early-stage product design, architecture, and material selection.
- Ensure end-to-end lifecycle compliance including manufacturing changes, obsolescence, and end-of-life obligations.
- Provide regulatory guidance for scale-up, process changes, and global supply chain transitions.
Business Systems, Data & AI Enablement
- Own and advance PSRA digital platforms supporting chemical management, product compliance, supplier data, and regulatory reporting.
- Act as PSRA business owner for IT and data science initiatives, defining system requirements and priority roadmaps.
- Design and deploy AI-enabled capabilities such as:
- Automated global regulatory horizon scanning
- Intelligent SDS and material risk screening
- Predictive compliance risk assessment by product and market
- AI-assisted customer documentation and inquiry management
- Ensure regulatory data governance, traceability, transparency, and audit readiness across systems.
Supply Chain & Supplier Data Integration
- Define global supplier compliance data standards and validation requirements.
- Drive scalable, digital integration of supplier material and chemical data.
- Ensure timely, accurate regulatory disclosures to customers, authorities, and certification bodies.
Leadership, Influence & Governance
- Mentor PSRA team members on global regulatory strategy, systems thinking, and risk-based decision-making.
- Influence engineering, operations, and commercial leaders by embedding regulatory intelligence into decision workflows.
- Define KPIs, dashboards, and governance mechanisms to measure global compliance health and system effectiveness.
Education & Experience
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, Regulatory Science, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 7-10+ years of experience in global regulatory affairs, product stewardship, or product compliance roles.
- Demonstrated authority managing global chemical control and hardware regulatory requirements.
- Experience designing or deploying AI, automation, or advanced analytics solutions within regulatory or compliance environments.
Preferred
- Master's degree in a technical, scientific, regulatory, or data-oriented discipline.
- Experience applying automation, analytics, or AI within regulated product or compliance environments.
- Strong understanding of audit, enforcement, and regulatory defensibility expectations.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Expert understanding of global chemical control and product regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to balance regulatory rigor with pragmatic, business-enabling solutions.
- Strong systems thinking with advanced data literacy.
