We're Hiring!
AMVAC is looking for experienced Chemical Operators! The Chemical Operator is responsible for the operation, inspection, troubleshooting and maintenance of the chemical production unit for AMVAC’s Axis manufacturing plant. The Chemical Operator oversees the safe and environmentally sustainable operation of plant assets.

AMVAC, an American Vanguard company, successfully serves global markets through development, manufacturing and marketing of products for agricultural and commercial use. This position is on-site at the Axis, Alabama location and requires working nights and weekends. Immediate hiring!

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspect, adjust, monitor, operate and repair plant equipment and systems
  • Report plant conditions to supervisors and plant personnel verbally and in writing
  • Conduct chemical instrument readings and make adjustments as necessary
  • Complete and maintain accurate records and files
  • Observe all plant safety rules; perform assigned tasks in safe manner and be alert to unsafe conditions
  • Conduct lab samples pulls as needed
  • Operate Vent Gas Incinerator (VGI), Chillers, and Cooling Tower
  • Process effluent through DCS (Distributor Control Systems)
  • Assist mechanical & electrical maintenance and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) activities
  • Work rotating shift to accommodate plant 24-hour; 7 day a week coverage
  • Participate in Emergency Response Team training and activities
  • Comply and ensure compliance with all regulatory safety and environmental requirements
  • Comply and ensure compliance with all company policies, practices and lawful directives
  • Perform other duties as assigned / required to maintain a safe environment

Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience working as a Synthesis Operator or Chemical Operator at a specialty chemical manufacturing plant
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID's
  • Experience performing minor maintenance safely and in a timely manner
  • Must be forklift certifiable
  • Physically meet the needs of the job to include, climbing stairs, wearing respiratory protection, and safely lifting at least 50 pounds
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work as a team member as well as independently
  • Must be prompt, dependable and have a good attendance record
  • Must participate in the Safety monthly blood draw program
  • This position requires the ability to participate in the respiratory program which includes being clean shaven and able to wear a respirator
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug test and criminal background check

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalency Required
  • Vocational or technical degree preferred
  • 40 hour HAZWOPER* preferred
  • Firefight Certification | AIDT Training a plus!
