Job description

OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking a college Process/Chemical Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2027 at our Greenwood Village, Colorado office with our Nuclear Services and Technology group.

Merrick’s Summer Internship Program offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students. Designed as a shorter-term, exploratory experience, internships allow students to apply what they’re learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day-to-day life at an employee-owned company.

The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027. 


WHAT YOU'LL DO

The intern will gain technical experience in the field of Process/Chemical engineering by working on actual projects for our clients and have an opportunity to work on a variety of process engineering items including P&ID drawings, piping design, process simulation and engineering calculations.

This internship is with our Nuclear Services and Technology business unit who specializes in equipment and utility design at nuclear facilities in the nuclear energy, radioisotope, research, and government laboratory markets.

The intern will collaborate with other disciplines, interface with engineers, designers, and clients, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently and in a team environment.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible.
  • Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Chemical Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program.
  • Must be currently enrolled and entering senior year of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics and heat transfer principles and calculations.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Being familiar with Microsoft Excel.
  • Exposure to PFD and P&ID drawings.
  • Local candidates strongly preferred.
