Position Summary
The Chemical Services Operator is responsible for supporting the execution of industrial chemical cleaning and decontamination projects at refinery and petrochemical facilities. This role involves the setup, operation, and monitoring of specialized equipment used to circulate chemical solutions through industrial systems such as heat exchangers, towers, vessels, and piping systems. Operators work closely with supervisors and project teams to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all safety, environmental, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
System Setup amp; Equipment Operation
  • Assist with the layout, setup, and connection of temporary circulation systems including pumps, hoses, manifolds, and tanks.
  • Operate high-volume pumps and circulation equipment used during chemical cleaning operations.
  • Support system startup, monitoring, and shutdown procedures.
Chemical Cleaning Operations
  • Assist with the preparation, mixing, and circulation of cleaning chemistries such as acids, degreasers, and oxidizing solutions.
  • Monitor chemical cleaning processes to ensure proper flow rates, pressures, and temperatures.
  • Follow procedures to ensure effective removal of scale, fouling, and contaminants from industrial equipment.
Safety amp; Compliance
  • Follow all company and client safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and respiratory protection when required.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and safety briefings.
  • Ensure proper chemical handling, spill prevention, and environmental compliance.
Documentation amp; Reporting
  • Maintain accurate logs related to chemical concentrations, circulation times, and equipment readings.
  • Assist supervisors in documenting job progress and operational conditions.
  • Support compliance with client and regulatory reporting requirements.
Team amp; Operational Support
  • Work closely with supervisors, operators, and project managers to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Support mobilization and demobilization of equipment at job sites.
  • Assist with general maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work areas.
What You Bring
  • Industry Experience
    • Experience in industrial cleaning, chemical services, refinery operations, or industrial field services preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge
    • Familiarity with chemical circulation systems, pumps, hoses, and industrial cleaning equipment.
  • Mechanical Aptitude
    • Ability to assist with troubleshooting pumps, valves, hoses, and support equipment in the field.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, climb ladders, work at heights, and perform work in various outdoor conditions.
  • Credentials
    • Valid driverโ€™s license required.
    • TWIC Card and Basic Plus required for refinery site access.
